Interweave: Connecting the Body and Soul in Spiritual Practice
Thursday, March 14, 2019
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
This workshop seeks to build foundations of connection between the body and the soul in spiritual practice, and between the personal body and the collective Body. We will explore our experience as sensate as human beings with divine indwelling at the center of our being-ness. We will explore this both as individuals and in community. The focus of the seminar is on the physical body as a deeply good, wise and essential component of spirituality. By providing simple tools for tending to the body and the breath, this workshop will open us to the cosmic wonder of our own human experience. Falling in love with this body, this breath, this moment of inquiry, we can’t help but fall in love with all that is.
We will engage in simple, easily accessible movement practices in a safe space of acceptance and love. Participants will gain knowledge about their own embodied experience and how it is part of their spiritual life. They will make connections to traditions of spirituality that honor the body and seek to know its ways as a tool for spiritual growth. Practically, they will learn how to bring tools of embodiment as spiritual practice to those they work with, accompany, and minister to. This workshop is an invitation into embodiment that is lived and incarnated, not just talked about, a participation in body-soul connection that is a force for incredible healing and unification in the world.
Please come in comfortable clothes that allow you to move! Participants need not have any prior experience in embodiment, and this workshop is accessible to people of all movement levels and abilities. Please let us know if you require special accommodations of any kind.
