Sensing Death

The last couple of weeks have been interesting for me. I've had dreams of people dying, conversed with many about their loved ones who have died or about to die, and had visits from my deceased family members. There was even a large moth outside my front door for 10 days that appeared to be dying and eventually transitioned after she laid 6 eggs on the wall. Her presence and death moved me to create a funeral and rock garden burial.

RIP Moth Mama

The truth is I miss talking about death and dying. It is a concept that is hidden from our society and our daily conversations. The rawness of life that is expressed through death and grieving drew me to the work as a chaplain and bereavement coordinator in my 20's and I still love it. Death creates a portal which gives access to auspicious connections and expansion. It gives us an opportunity to connect with ourselves and to feel deeply.
