When You're Not Ready Yet

Yesterday, I moved my body, unencumbered, in a safe place with others. The free-flowing movement of 5 Rhythms was a gift, once again. This practice was a wonderful antidote of being in the head or wrapped up in emotions.

The instructor invited participants to move first with the body, knowing the thoughts and feelings would subside.

I started the practice with a sense of not being ready. I kept repeatedly hearing, "I'm not ready. I'm not ready." I noticed where that was in my body and let those sensations and textures lead. My body created small, curled up shapes on the floor. Slight micro-movements led to rocking back and forth.

Then, I dropped in. I surrendered. I let go. I'm not sure what movements followed or what happened next. I simply felt a need to be on my feet, to walk, and to glide. I kept following my feet and the patterns they created.

Two hours later, I heard that familiar voice, this time a bit softer and less demanding: "I am ready." I double checked to make sure I heard it correctly. I felt lighter, more free, and ready for what is coming.
